| Controversies | • Money Laundering Case On 27 March 2024, a case was filed against Veena Vijayan by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over illegal payments received by her and her IT company Exalogic. An investigation by the Income Tax Department alleged that a private company called Cochin Minerals And Rutile Ltd (CMRL) made a payment of Rs 1.72 crore to Veena's company Exalogic Solutions in 2018 and 2019. On crosschecking, it was revealed that the IT firm had not provided any service to CMRL that could justify the payment. In February 2024, the Karnataka High Court had dismissed a plea filed by Exalogic Solutions against the probe by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) into the affairs of the company. check sources NDTV • Irregularities in appointment as a CEO In 2012, she was straight away appointed as the CEO of RP Techsoft International company only after six years of work experience at Oracle. RP Techsoft was owned by business tycoon Ravi Pillai. • Wrongful Admission In the early 2000s, Berlin Kunhanandan Nair alleged that Veena Vijayan's father arranged a seat for Veena at a private self-financing college in exchange for a few favours, when the Students Federation of India and the Democratic Youth Federation of India were protesting against the allocation of self-financing colleges. • Controversial Sprinklr deal In 2020, Swapna Suresh who was one of the main accused people in the 2020 gold smuggling scandal laid allegations against Veena and said that she was the mastermind behind the controversial Sprinklr deal. The deal allowed the US-based firm Sprinklr to gather health data of people from Kerala who were quarantined due to Covid, without taking their consent.
