Some Lesser Known Facts About Shena Gamat
Shena Gamat actively participated in theatre in childhood.
Her first major amateur role was as Anne Frank, at the age of 13 years, in a stage show in Bangalore.
She and her ex-husband, Amit Saigal, co-founded the music magazine Rock Street Journal (RSJ) in 1993.
She continued with RSJ until 2004 and organized events such as The Great Indian Rock (a platform for original rock music).
She co-founded a theatre company named Barefoot Theatre in 2007.
Some of her theatre productions were, ‘The Pink Balloon’ (2007) and ‘Snakes’ (2018).

She played the role of a hotel owner in the film Dev.D (2009) and a businessperson named Chanda Narang in Band Baaja Baaraat (2010).
She was the Program Director of the Society for Labour and Development from 2009 to 2012 during which she was in charge of Tarang, a youth and cultural programme for migrant workers.
In 2012, she introduced theatre games to public spaces through the programme called The Dog Would Know.

She was also the Show Director at Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon from 2013 to 2015 and was responsible for the overall execution of the theatrical musical show, Zangoora.
She is an accomplished voice-over artist. She has lent her voice to various documentaries, advertisements, Interactive Voice Responses (IVRs), corporate films, e-learning, and audiobooks.
She has worked with prominent theatre directors like Lushin Dubey, Anamika Haksar, and Roysten Abel.
She is a qualified movement therapist and experiential learning facilitator.
In February 2024, she founded a startup business – a platform for joyful living and curated retail experiences – called It’s All Good.
