| Controversy | Sexist Comments Sandesh sparked a controversey when he was caught making sexist remarks after the match ended 2-2 between ATK Mohun Bagan and Kerala Blasters. A video was uploaded by ATK Mohun Bagan's official instagram handle where he was caught saying, "Aurato ke saath match khelne aaya hoon, aurato ke saath" (I have played a match with women, with women) while he was on his way back to the dressing room at Vasco in Goa on Saturday. Some Lesser Known Facts About Sandesh Jhingan
While studying in school, Sandesh represented the Chandigarh Union Territory team at the under-19 level and helped them win the B.C. Roy Trophy.
Sandesh helped St. Stephen’s Academy reach the Southeast Asian finals of the Manchester United Premier Cup in 2008.
In November 2011, Sandesh joined the I-League 2nd Division side of the United Sikkim FC. He played alongside Bhaichung Bhutia and Renedy Singh in the club and also helped the club to earn promotion to the I-League after the 2012 season.
On 6 October 2012, Sandesh made his professional senior debut in the I-League for United Sikkim in their first match of the season against Salgaocar; he played the whole match and scored the winning goal for United Sikkim helping them win 3–2.

 On 7 December 2013, Sandesh debuted for Mumbai football club against Pune in the I-League.
On 22 July 2014, Jhingan was selected in the second round of the 2014 ISL Domestic Draft by the Kerala Blasters.

On 15 September 2014, Sandesh made his international debut for India U23 against the United Arab Emirates.
Sandesh was loaned to the I-League club Sporting Goa for the 2014–15 season and made his debut on 8 February 2015 against Mumbai FC.
In the 2015 ISL season, Sandesh became the highest-paid Indian player in the league after Kerela Blasters decided to retain him for more than 10 million from the club.
On 12 March 2015, Sandesh made his senior international debut for India in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nepal; Sandesh played the whole match and helped India win 2-0.
On 4 March 2016, Sandesh joined the I-League club DSK Shivajians on loan from the Kerala Blasters. He debuted for the club two days later, on 6th March, against East Bengal FC.

In the 2016 season of the Indian Super League, Sandesh was again retained by the Kerala Blasters. He played most of the season as the right-back.

On 12 January 2017, Sandesh was loaned to the I League club Bengaluru FC from the Kerala Blasters FC.
On 18 January 2017, Sandesh debuted for Bengaluru FC in a league match against Mumbai as a 71st-minute substitute for Harmanjot Khabra.
On 14 March 2017, Sandesh featured for the first time in the AFC Cup playing for Bengaluru FC against Mohun Bagan. He scored a goal in the match and helped his team to achieve a 2-1 victory.
On 21 May 2017, Sandesh won the first top-tier piece of silverware in his career. He was part of the Bengaluru FC squad which won the 2016–17 Federation Cup final 2-0 against Mohun Bagan.

On 8 July 2017, Sandesh signed a long-term contract with Kerala Blasters FC until 2020 when the club decided to retain him. The deal made Sandesh the highest-paid defender in the Indian Super League with a salary of Rs. 3.8 crore.
Sandesh avoids consuming gluten and dairy products and is very conscious about his diet.
Sandesh was handed over the captaincy of the club Kerala Blasters on 16 November 2017 and continued as the captain until he was ruled out for the entire 2019–20 season due to an ACL injury.
In 2020, Sandesh signed a deal with the nutrition company MyProtein.
On 21 May 2020, Sandesh parted ways with Kerala Blasters FC on mutual consent.
On 26 September 2020, Sandesh signed a 5-year deal with the club ATK Mohun Bagan and was appointed as one of the 5 captains of the team.

On 18 August 2021, Sandesh joined Croatian First Football League side Å ibenik on a one-year deal with an option to extend for another year. He also became the first Indian footballer to play in the Croatian league.
Sandesh suffered a calf injury three days after signing the contract with the Croatian club and was sidelined for two months due to injury.
In 2022, Sandesh parted ways with Å ibenik and returned to the ATK Mohun Bagan club, signing a short-term contract with them in the January transfer window. He remained with the club till the end of the season and played a total of nine games in the 2021-22 season.
In February 2022, Adidas signed Sandesh as their brand ambassador in India on a multiple-year deal.
On 14 August 2022, Sandesh joined Bengaluru FC on a one-year deal.
