| Controversies | ⢠In 2015, after the live stage performance at the Nakoder Mela, the Punjabi singer, Preet Harpal , claimed copyright issues on the song that he performed at the event. ⢠In 2024, he was accused by Bajrang Dal and the Vishva Hindu Parishad of hurting the sentiments of the Hindus through his song Mera Ki Kasoor. This led to a protest against him due to which his concert got cancelled in Himachal Pradesh. This was the third time the show was cancelled in Himachal Pradesh. In his defence, he took to social media where he asked the CM of Himachal Pradesh Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to intervene. He also apologised to his fans for any offense caused by his song.  |

Ranjit started singing at his school when he was in 6th standard, for which he received good compliments from his teachers and mates.

From childhood to adolescence, his music teacher Master Mangal trained and motivated him to participate in music competitions.
Bawa actively participated in his collegeâs music competitions and won them all.
In 2013, he won the âPTC Best Folk Oriented Song Awardâ for his song Jatt Di Akal.
After the success of his debut Pakistani song âMiti Da Bawa_â (2015),_ he became so popular that he was often recognized with the name âBawa.â For this song, he won the âBest World Album Awardâ in the 2015 Brit Asia Awards.
Some of his popular Punjabi songs include âJean,â âSadi Wari Aun De,â âSher Marna,â âYaari Chandigarh Waliye,â âMunda Sadara Da,â âDollar Vs Roti,â âJa Ve Mundiya,â âHik Vich Zor,â âKhand da Khidona,â and âBachpan.â
In 2015, he made a semi-biographical film (Toofan Singh) about the 1980s Punjabi activist Shaheed Bhai Jugraj Singh Toofan which was highly appreciated.
During his college days, Ranjit has sung the song âBol Miti Deya Baweyaâ many times after which his teachers and friends named him âBawa.â
He has struggled for 15 years before achieving success.
Ranjit used to bunk his classes when some singer arrived at his place and he used to notice each detail about how they perform.
It was his mentor, Master Mangal Singh, who motivated Ranjit to perform on the live shows.
