| Controversies | • Charged for violating the FEMA norms: A congress leader, Bakka Judson, registered a complaint to ED (Enforcement Directorate) against Puri Jagannadh and his business partner Charmme Kaur clamming that the money invested by them in the film ‘Liger’ was black. After investigation it was found that the money invested in the film was first sent to Dubai and later returned as funding for the film. Later, Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur were charged by ED for violating the FEMA norms. • Commented on the idea of marriage: In September 2020, in his podcast show ‘Puri Musings,’ Puri Jagannadh called the marriage an ‘outdated’ idea, and said that one should not marry if wanted to achieve bigger goals in life. Puri Jagannadh is an Indian filmmaker. He has done more than forty films in the Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada film industries.
He started assisting the filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma in various Telugu films soon after completing his studies.
In 1989, he made a special appearance in the song “Botany” from the film ‘Shiva’ starring Nagarjuna . It was his first appearance on screen.
In 2002, he launched Puneeth Rajkumar in his Kannada film “Appu” which later proved a breakthrough for the actor.

After making his directorial debut with the Telugu language film ‘Badri’ in 2000, he directed various Telugu films among which the most notable include ‘Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi’ (2003), ‘143’ (2004), ‘Pokiri’ (2006), ‘Heart Attack’ (2014), ‘Mehbooba’ (2018), and ‘iSmart Shankar’ (2019).
His Bollywood debut film ‘Shart: The Challenge’ (2004) (as director) was a remake of his directorial debut film ‘Badri.’
In 2011, he worked as a director and story writer for the Bollywood film ‘Bbuddah… Hoga Terra Baap’ starring Amitabh Bachchan , which was later archived in the Oscar library.

Apart from filmmaking, Jagannadh also tried his hand at acting. In 2012, he appeared as a taxi driver in the Telugu film ‘Businessman,’ as a biker in the film ‘Temper,’ and as Govardhan in the blockbuster film ‘Godfather’ (2022).
He made a cameo appearance in various films including ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’ (2010), ‘Ism’ (2016), ‘iSmart Shankar’ (2019), and ‘Liger’ (2022).
His 2022 film ‘Liger’ was made in two languages, Hindi and Telugu. Later, the film was also dubbed into Tamil Malayalam, and Kannada languages.
