| Controversies | ⢠Received death threat over the phone Masoom, on 16 March 2021, received a WhatsApp call from a random person, who threatened to kill him. Firstly, he hurled abuses at Masoom over the call and later, the same person intimidated Masoom into killing his family members. Masoom said, When I asked the caller his identity, he did not respond and hung up." The woman alleged that she was sexually assaulted and raped by Masoomâs brothers, Vikas and Deepak, and one of their mutual friends, Gaurav. The woman, who claimed that she was intimidated by death threats, revealed that Gaurav borrowed Rs 48000 from her with an excuse to treat her motherâs health condition. However, when she asked to return her money, Gaurav kept delaying her request to pay back the amount. After a few days, Gaurav called the victim over to Masoomâs recording studio with the pretext of returning the borrowed money and eventually, raped her. Later, she was raped by Masoom's brothers, Deepak and Vikas. After assaulting her sexually, Gaurav recorded the incident and blackmailed her to leak the video if she intended to disclose the matter. Vishwas claimed that Masoom got into an intense spat with him after which Masoom shot at him. However, the bullet didnât hit him. Vishwas accused Masoom of intimidating him at gunpoint to vacate his premises within fifteen days. Masoom Sharma is an Indian singer, lyricist, and composer, famous for rendering his voice to Haryanvi music videos. Masoom came into the limelight in 2014 for lending his voice to the Haryanvi song Kothe Chad Lalkaru, which amassed views of more than 2 crores.
Inclined towards singing at a young age, Masoom used to perform Haryanvi Ragnis during stage shows in his hometown.

Masoomâs debut music album, Jalwa Haryana, consisted of eight audio songs. However, the album failed to leave an impression among the viewers. Later, Masoom along with his friend, Mukesh Grover, launched GV Videos, a music company, which released cassettes and DVDs of Masoomâs Haryanvi songs.
In 2014, Masoom voiced the song Kothe Chad Lalkaru, featuring Anjali Raghav . Some of the hit tracks of Masoom are Gandaas Hori Se (2016), Gaddya Me Ek Luhari (2016), Challiya (2017), Baitha Balad Kade Laat Maar Kai Thaya Na Karte (2018), Kille Aala Jaat (2018), and Bheeda Palang (2018).
In 2021, Masoomâs song, 2 Numbari earned him massive popularity as it garnered more than 13 crores views on YouTube.
Amid the Indian farmerâs protest against the farm acts in January 2021, Masoom Sharma was invited by the Bharatiya Janata Party member and the 10th Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar in Chandigarh to talk about the issues faced by the Haryanvi artists. However, his intention to meet the chief minister was not taken on a good note. Masoom faced fierce criticism on social media as it was alleged that he was against the farmers and his meeting with Manohar specified his support for implementing the farm laws.
In 2021, Manish Sharma, a resident of Nangal village in Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested by police officials for allegedly creating a fake Facebook account under the name of Masoom Sharma. Manish used Masoomâs identity to chat with random girls with the pretext of providing modelling opportunities to them in the music videos. Masoom alleged that Manish used to chat indecently with several girls by faking himself as Masoom, which consequently, disgraced his image among his fans. When Masoom came to the notice of the fake Facebook account, he immediately reported the matter to the Julana police station and thereafter Manish was arrested.
On 20 January 2022, Masoomâs Haryanvi song, Chand, was released on YouTube, which was immensely liked by the viewers as it amassed over 3.5 crore views. On 23 June 2022, within three weeks after Sidhu Moose Wala âs death, his song SYL was released on Youtube. The song allegedly highlighted various controversial issues like the contention between Punjab and Haryana regarding the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal, ownership of Punjab in the canalâs water, undivided Punjab, the 1984 anti-Sikh Riots, and the hoisting of the Sikh flag at the Red Fort during the farmer agitation.
