Though he was born in Japan, his family moved to England when he was just five, because his father had to pursue the research at the National Institute of Oceanography.
In 1982, he was bestowed with the Winifred Holtby Memorial Prize for his first novel, âA Pale View of Hills.â
Kazuo has received four âMan Booker Prizeâ nominations and a winning in the year 1989 for his novel, âThe Remains of the Day.â
In 1993, he was published in the âGrantaâ Best Young British Novelist.
His novel, âNever Let Me Go,â was named by Time Magazine on its list of the top 100 English language novels, in the year 2005.
He co-wrote several songs for jazz singer Stacey Kent with her husband and has contributed to the lyrics of her 2007 album, âBreakfast on the Morning Tram,â and 2013 album, âThe Changing lights.â
Kazuo was ranked 32nd in The Timesâ list of âThe 50 greatest British writers since 1945.â
He was conferred upon with the prestigious Nobel Prize in the field of Literature, in October 2017.
