Gopichand Malineni discontinued his education in the 12th grade and started working as a camera assistant for various programmes broadcast on ETV Network.
He started working in the film industry as a camera assistant for the Telugu film Hello I Love You (1997).
He was an assistant director for ten years for many well-known Telugu film industry directors such as E. V. V. Satyanarayana, Srinu Vaitla, AR Murugadoss , Sriwass and Meher Ramesh.
His debut directorial film, Don Seenu (2010), was one of that year’s biggest box-office hits in the Telugu film industry. He wrote the story and co-wrote the screenplay of this film.
The success of his third Telugu film, Balupu (2013), played an important role in the acting career of Ravi Teja , who played the lead role.

Some of his other successful Telugu films are Pandaga Chesko (2015), Krack (2021), and Veera Simha Reddy (2023).
