Atul began his acting career in theatre while he was still studying in college. He was a part of many popular plays, including âWah Guru,â âPriyatama,â âTarun Turk Mhatare Arka,â âAamhi Ani Aamche Baap,â and âKaapus Kondyachi Goshta,â among others.

In December 2022, he was diagnosed with liver cancer. Unfortunately, his condition worsened due to a misdiagnosis during his first treatment. In an interview, he shared his experience of battling cancer and emphasized the importance of medical insurance. In the interview, he said,
âI donât want sympathy. I am recovering and looking forward to working soon. I got numerous calls and was overwhelmed to see so much love. The goal of talking about my cancer was to make people aware about the importance of health insurance. There are so many who feel it is not needed but when you need it, often, it is too late. He passed away at the age of 57 following a prolonged battle with liver cancer in Mumbai on 14 October 2024.
