He started playing hockey after his best friend introduced him to the game when he was 11 years old.
Abhishek once suffered a serious injury during his childhood when he jumped from a Jamun (Indian blackberry) tree, and his left-hand’s veins got cut by the barbed wire on the wall nearby.
He was immediately rushed to the ICU, where he stayed for two weeks and received 15 stitches.
Abhishek talked about the seriousness of the incident, in an interview, and said that he would have died had he been 5 minutes late to reach the hospital.
After the incident, his parents didn’t want him to continue playing hockey fearing another serious injury, but on his coach, Shamsher Singh’s request, they allowed him to continue playing hockey.
Abhishek is a fitness enthusiast and enjoys working out in the gym.
