Some Lesser Known Facts About Zunilda Hoyos Mendez
Zunilda Hoyos Mendez was a Colombian bodybuilding athlete who was internationally known by her online name “Amy Muscle”. She was the first Colombian WBB IFBB Pro Champion.
She had competed across Latin America and internationally.
Zunilda gained popularity after finishing second at the National Physique Committee Worldwide Latin American Championships in 2021.

After that, she consistently competed at various regional bodybuilding competitions in Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil.
Before her death, her most recent title included top placements at International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) sanctioned events.
Along with her bodybuilding competitive career, Zunilda was also well-known online in the fitness community as “Amy Muscle” through her social media presence. She also described herself as “She Hulk”.

Over the many years of her fitness journey, she had built a following of over 100,000 subscribers on platforms like OnlyFans and Fansly, where she regularly posted fitness content with premium modelling work.
Mendez was also a frequent subject of interest on fitness-focused Reddit forums, where fans followed her progress and posted about her training routines and competition preparations.
At the time of her death, she had been preparing for an upcoming bodybuilding competition in Portugal, which was going to happen on 5 August 2025.
Her husband, Jarrod Gelling was also belonged to the same profession. She met her in a competition.
Hoyos and her husband had been living in Dubai for most of the year and had no children.
Zunilda accompanied her husband on his trip to Spain for his knee operation, which was scheduled for June 16 2025. She had rented an apartment in Fuengirola, Costa del Sol, Spain.
As Zunilda and her husband were not on good terms, she wanted to get a divorce from him due to his abusive nature over the last two years. They also once got separated. However, they later patched up and started living together.
Zunilda planned to stay with her husband in the hospital after his knee surgery for a week, then travel to Portugal for an international competition.
When her family and friends stopped getting responses to their calls and messages, they became worried. One of her friends went to the police station in Torremolinos to report her missing.
On 10 June 2025, when police entered their apartment, they discovered her body was found beaten to death with a hammer, and her husband’s body in the bathroom with knife wounds. The police suspected that her husband had killed her and then died by suicide.
After her death, one of her nieces mentioned that Zunilda never reported her husband publicly and only shared her husband’s abusive nature with her family and friends.
Zunilda loved travelling and exploring new places.
She is an avid animal lover.
