Zoƫ Kestan grew up in Yorkville on the Upper East Side of New York City.
She was passionate about fashion and design from a young age.
After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design, she moved back to New York. In 2012, she began working as a colour mixer/specialist and painting assistant for artist Jeff Koons.
During her time working under Koons, she would often spend her nights at clubs like Boom Boom Room and China Chalet. These venues helped her network with key figures in the design and entertainment industries.
Zoƫ Kestan later began working on freelance projects for well-known personalities like fashion designer Telfar Clemens and rapper Travis Scott.

She soon became known on Instagram for her bold, sensual pictures and artistic style, inspired by Vice magazine and figures like Sasha Grey .
Kestan worked on embroidery development for Greek fashion designer Mary Katrantzouās brand in London from May 2013 to September 2013.
In 2015, ZoĆ« lost her job at Jeff Koonsā studio. In September 2016, she started working part-time as an assistant designer at Wieden+Kennedy, an advertising company in New York, where she worked till 2017.
Kestan later began working as a dancer at Vivid Cabaret, an adult entertainment club in New York to earn extra income. This job boosted her confidence and made her feel empowered.
In the spring of 2017, ZoĆ« launched āWeedSlut,ā a lingerie and apparel line inspired by the aesthetics of sex work and cannabis culture. She showcased the collection for the first time at Paulās Baby Grand, a cocktail lounge in Tribeca, where the event was well-received.

In December 2017, Zoƫ met Hunter Biden, an attorney and businessman, while working at Vivid Cabaret. She did not know he was the son of politician Joe Biden .

A few days later, she visited Hunter at the Soho Grand Hotel in New York, where he was relaxing in his briefs, smoking, and playing loud music. By then, she had discovered his identity but decided to keep seeing him.
ZoĆ« and Hunterās connection soon started growing. He showed interest in her designs and asked to see her work. ZoĆ« was impressed by how he treated her like a creative equal despite their age gap; Kestan was 24 and Hunter was 48 when they met.
Zoƫ later began dating Hunter. She even brought him into her social circle, though some of her friends worried about how he might affect her.
As their relationship continued, things became difficult because of Hunterās growing addiction to drugs and alcohol. ZoĆ« often noticed that when she went to bed, he would go into the bathroom, set up a pipe with crack cocaine and a laptop, and stay up all night making calls. If no one answered, he would watch cam girls online.
Her relationship with Hunter started to fall apart after several incidents. He began lying to her and became paranoid. Despite this, Zoƫ visited him during his ketamine therapy in Newburyport, Massachusetts, but it did not work.
During his time in Newburyport, Hunter was still struggling with his addiction. He asked Zoƫ to help him find cocaine, so she drove him to Providence to buy it from her college connections. They parted ways the next morning, and Zoƫ stopped seeing him after that.
After their split, the duo began exchanging heated texts. Hunter admitted he had hurt Zoƫ and blamed himself for whatever happened. Their communication gradually faded, from frequent texts to rare emails, and eventually stopped.
Zoƫ Kestan has been working as a design director at Elizabeth Hayt Studio in New York since 2018.

In 2019, ZoĆ« messaged Hunter to congratulate him on his daughterās graduation but got no reply. Hunter later emailed her, saying he had married and was happy. He asked for privacy and wished her well. The email read,
Hi Zoe, I got married to the love of my life, and Iām happier than I have ever been. I have begun a new life with my beautiful wife and ask you to please honor my privacy. Wish you well.ā
In October 2020, The New York Post revealed some emails from Hunter Bidenās laptop, which not only suggested unethical business dealings involving him and his father, Joe Biden, but also revealed personal information about ZoĆ« Kestan.
As explicit images from the laptop spread, Zoƫ felt upset by the personal details being exposed but also relieved that evidence of her relationship with Hunter was finally out, as many had doubted their connection or believed she was making false claims.
ZoĆ« later found out from the laptop that Hunter had lied about going to rehab and had a child with another woman while they were together. The laptop also became a part of an investigation into Hunterās finances and gun purchases.
In July 2023, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene displayed Hunterās explicit photos, including one with ZoĆ«, during a hearing. This upset ZoĆ«, and some media outlets wrongly labelled her.
In June 2024, ZoĆ« gave testimony in court about Hunterās illegal gun purchase. She explained that Hunter lied on his gun application when he denied being addicted to drugs. She mentioned he was so addicted to crack cocaine that he would use it every 20 minutes or so.
