Yella Beezy started writing songs at the age of 9 and decided to become a rapper after getting good reviews at a local competition.
He wanted to become a professional football player but started selling drugs on the street to make money and support his family but stopped after getting caught by police.
He even joined the Crips gang briefly while selling drugs.
He was only 12 years old when his father was murdered.
He released his first mixtape at the age of 14 years.
He made headlines with his song, ‘That’s On Me’ (2017), which entered the Billboard Hot 100 and received gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

On the early hours of 14 October 2018, he was returning from a night club. He was shot thrice on Sam Rayburn Tollway. He drove along the State Highway 121 Bypass in Lewisville with two bullets inside him, one in lungs and another in his elbow.
He was hospitalized for 11 days and released on 24 October. Capt. Dan Rochelle of the Lewisville Police Department revealed that they closed the investigation as he did not cooperate.
Yella Beezy said, “I don’t talk to police. Only time I talk to them is when it’s an emergency. They took care of what they supposed to do by getting me to the hospital. That’s the only time I talked to them.”
He later signed a deal with HITCO Entertainment, run by LA Reid, who was removed from being the chairman/CEO of Epic Records after allegations of sexual harassment.
