Waseem Abbas is a Pakistani actor, director, and screenwriter, who is known for his work in Pakistani films and television dramas.
Before entering the film and television industries, he used to work as a part of the crew in theatrical productions. His responsibilities there included tasks such as arranging the stage and operating the theatre curtains.
After making his debut in the television industry with the TV series ‘Ek Haqeeqat Ek Fasana’ (1979), he appeared in the TV series ‘Samundar’ (1983), which aired on PTV. He played the role of Yasir in the series and received immense appreciation for his performance.

After making his debut in the Urdu film industry with the film ‘Manzil’ (1981), Waseem Abbas appeared in the Urdu film ‘Badaltay Rishtay’ (1983) in which he played the role of Aamir.

Some of his other Urdu films include ‘Zara Si Baat’ (1982), ‘Tina’ (1983), ‘Naseebon Wali’ (1984), and ‘First Blood’ (1986).

In an interview, he revealed that his father preferred him to focus on his studies instead of pursuing a career in acting. He further added that he discontinued his studies for approximately half a year to persuade his father to let him work in the showbiz industry. While talking about it in the interview, he said,

So when it came to me joining the film industry he was sort of against it and he wanted me to continue on with my studies. But I was stubborn, I even discontinued my studies for about six months at one point.”
In an interview, the actor revealed that his father planned to send him to Cadet College when he was in 8th standard. However, because he was so determined to pursue an acting career, he burned his hand to avoid taking the entrance exam.
In an interview, he revealed how he secured his first role in his first stage play where he was cast as a crew member. He said that on the opening day of the stage play, due to the absence of Anwar Ali, who was set to play the main character, Waseem Abbas was handed the role.
