Vishwajeet Pradhan had a passion for acting since he was a child.
While studying in college, he began performing in theatre plays. In 1991, he shared the stage with Naseeruddin Shah in the theatre play ‘Julius Caesar.’
He was widely praised for his role in the theatre production ‘Kothri No.42.’

In an interview, he disclosed that after he finished his school education in Meerut, his parents decided to send him to Prayagraj to prepare for the IAS exam. After making his television debut with the TV series ‘Fauji’ (1988), he appeared in the TV series ‘Indradhanush’ (1989) in which he played the role of Joseph. The TV series was broadcast on the channel DD National.
He appeared alongside Shah Rukh Khan in the English-language telefilm ‘In Which Annie Gives it Those Ones’ (1989), written by Arundhati Roy and Arjun Raina.
He took a break from television for almost two decades after his role in the 1989 TV series ‘Indradhanush.’ However, he reentered the television industry in 2010 with the StarPlus TV show ‘Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak?’ in which he essayed the role of S.S.P Brahmanand Jakhar.

After making his Bollywood debut with the 1991 film ‘Prahaar,’ the actor acted in the film ‘Yalgaar’ in 1992. He played the role of Jaychand in the film.
In 1998, he appeared as Sr. Inspector Yadav in the film ‘Zakhm,’ starring Ajay Devgn .
He essayed the role of Head Police inspector in the film ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’ in 2000.
In 2013, he played the role of Kalavati/Thakur Rudra Pratap in the TV series ‘Ek Boond Ishq,’ which aired on Life OK. He received immense applause for his performance in the TV series.

Apart from Bollywood films, he has also acted in an American film named ‘Positive’ (2014) in which he appeared as a fashion photographer. The film was directed by Shams Charania.
Pradhan played Mahamatya Kaikala in the 2017 historical comedy drama TV series ‘Tenali Rama,’ which aired on Sony SAB.
In 2023, he acted in the TV series ‘Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyaag Tandav’ in which he essayed the role of Maharaj Daksha. The TV series was broadcast on the channel Colors TV.

He appeared in all three seasons of the Sushmita Sen starrer web series ‘Aarya’ (2020-2024), which streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. He played the role of Sampat in the web series.
While filming an action scene in the middle of the sea for the film ‘No Problem’ in 2010, Pradhan was encountered a fire accident. Initially, the crew members mistook it for part of the scene, but later they realized it was an accident. The actor ended up with several burns on his leg because of the fire.
The actor encountered another accident during the shooting of the climax scene of the film ‘Rakta Charitra.’ In the scene, he was scripted to be shot dead, but an explosion occurred unexpectedly.
