When he was in school, he was a shy student. He studied commerce and planned to become a chartered accountant, but later he realized that his interest was in becoming an actor. He used to dance and take part in drama shows at school.
He started his acting career in 2013 with the role of Ayaan in the TV serial Crazy Stupid Ishq.

In an interview, he revealed that he wanted to start his career with a youth show and not a family drama show. He said,
I am happy that I got to make my debut with a youth rom-com. I was not too keen to begin my career with a big family drama as I am that age right now when I can do youth shows.â
On 14 November 2021, Vishal tied knot to his long-time girlfriend Deepakshi Mishra. The ceremony took place in Goa. Vishal wore a white-golden sherwani on the day.
