Vishal is the son of famous film producer G. K. Reddy.
He made his first on-screen appearance in 1989 as a dancer (child artist) in the Tamil film ”Jadikketha Moodi.”
In 2004, he got the lead role of Ragunandan in the Tamil film ”Chellamae.”
He owns a production company named ”Vishal Film Factory.”
He has produced various Tamil films, such as ”Pandiya Naadu” (2013), ”Naan Sigappu Manithan” (2014), ”Poojai” (2014), ”Aambala” (2015), etc.
In October 2015, he was elected the General Secretary of the ”Nadigar Sangam.”
In 2023, he released a video on social media in which he accused the officials of the Mumbai branch of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) of demanding a bribe of Rs. 6.5 lakhs (Rs. 3 lakh for watching the film and Rs. 3.5 lakh to give a certificate on time) from him for giving a U/A clearance for the release of his film Mark Antony in Hindi. According to him, a lady named Menaka arranged the deal of Rs. 6.5 lakh between Reddy’s team and the CBFC officials. In the video he said,
We had applied online to CBFC Mumbai. Due to technical issues, we got delayed. On Monday, when my team members visited the CBFC office, they were asked to pay ₹6.5 lakh— ₹3 lakh for watching the film and ₹3.5 lakh to give a certificate on time. The deal was done by a lady called Menaka, who approached our team member. We have recorded everything. We had no option but to pay up, as much was at stake.”
