Some Lesser Known Facts About Vinay
Jaideep Dahiya is an Indian Kabaddi professional, who is well-known for playing in the right-raider position for Haryana Steelers in the Pro Kabaddi League.
Vinay began playing Kabaddi at a young age. In the 8th standard, he frequented a local stadium for cricket practice. There, he practised alongside others, receiving coaching from senior players in the town.
As Vinay progressed in Kabaddi, he enrolled at Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Haryana. Becoming a crucial player of the university’s Kabaddi team, he competed in various nationwide tournaments. His standout performance was in the All India Inter-University Kabaddi Championship 2019-20 in Mangalore, where he played a key role as the primary raider, securing 54 raid points and guiding his team to victory. He finished as the top scorer in the tournament.
Vinay participated in the New Young Player program of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). In an interview, he talked about when he was selected by the Haryana Steelers of PKL, he mentioned,
When I got selected for PKL, I was playing junior nationals and I was more focused on my studies. In the trials, I performed well and got the chance to join the training camp and eventually the NYP program. Within two months, the Steelers had absorbed me.”
In 2019, he became a part of Haryana Steelers through a program, joining for Rs 7.26 lakh at the PKL season 7 auction. Starting his journey against Puneri Paltan on 22 July 2019 in Hyderabad, he played in all 23 matches that season. In his first season, Vinay scored 125 raid points, placing him among the top 15 raiders, alongside well-known players like Pawan Sehrawat , Pardeep Narwal , Siddharth Desai , and Deepak Niwas Hooda . Since the Pro Kabaddi 2019, Vinay has achieved six Super raids, three Super 10s, and four tackle points.

For PKL season 8, the Haryana Steelers kept him on the team by paying Rs 25 lakhs. In that season, he participated in 15 matches, securing 51 raid points out of 96 raids.
In 2022, the Haryana Steelers acquired him once more for Rs 25 lakhs for season 9 of PKL. Throughout the tournament, he played 15 matches, executing a total of 53 raids and earning 33 raid points.
In July 2023, among his fellow team players in Haryana Steelers, Vinay chose Manjeet Dahiya as his favourite raider, and Jaideep Dahiya and Mohit Nandal are his favourite defenders.
He was retained by the Haryana Steelers for PKL season 10 in 2023.
He considers Rakesh Kumar and Anup Kumar as his inspiration for making a career in kabaddi.
