Vijendra hails from Rajasthan.
In June 2013, he along with his family went for the ‘Char Dham Yatra’ in India, and when they reached Uttarakhand, their bus was hit by the flash floods on 16 and 17 June.
Luckily his 5 children survived but his wife, Leela, was carried away by water due to the flood flow due to which she was officially declared dead.
Though his family had given up all hopes to see her again, Vijendra’s passionate love for his wife didn’t allow him to give up and he started a persistent search for his wife.
It took him around a year-and-a-half and a search of around 1000 villages to find his wife at last.
In June 2017, film producer, Siddharth Roy Kapur, announced to produce a film based on Vijendra Singh Rathore’s heroic story.
