According to sources, Vijay Anand got to know Loveleen when she came to hold an interview with him on behalf of Moscow radio. Vijay, enchanted with Loveleenās beauty, offered her the lead role in the Hindi romantic film āJaan Kazir Haiā (1975). Loveleen started to bond with Vijay Anand during the making of the film. Vijay used to dress up as a disciple of Osho Rajneesh, a mystic and spiritual teacher, which took a shine to Loveleen, and eventually, Vijay introduced her to the teachings of Rajneesh. According to some sources, both of them would often visit Rajneeshās ashram in Pune and spend around ten days a month. Loveleenās faith in Rajneesh and her feelings for Vijay Anand kept growing, and she decided to move from Delhi to Rajneeshās ashram in Pune. After realising her feelings for Vijay, Loveleen proposed to him; however, he declined the proposal by saying that he had nothing except for a couple of clothes and footwear with him. Loveleenās decision of getting married to Vijay remained unchanged, and she later gave up the offer for the film āJaan Hazir Hai,ā thinking that Vijay would not like his to be wife to act in the films. As per some sources, Loveleen kept convincing Vijay Anand to marry her and making him believe that spending her whole life with him was the only thing that mattered to her. Reportedly, guru Rajneesh called Vijay Anand and Loveleen to his private chamber one day and purportedly gave Loveleenās hand in the hands of Vijay. Vijay Anand and Loveleen got married and led their married life in Pune with the blessings of guru Rajneesh. Their relationship was doing well until Loveleen expressed her desire to continue working in films and allegedly asked Vijay Anand to write a script which feature her as the heroine opposite a popular actor. Sources claim that Vijay did not pay much attention to Loveleenās demand, which kept growing stronger over time. The demands evolved into acrimonious disagreements, and the duo began arguing often. According to some sources, Vijay was affected by frequent fights and arguments, and he decided to end his marriage. After parting ways with his first wife, Loveleen, Vijay Anand found love in his niece, Sushma (Kohli) Anand. A controversy was heated up when Vijay tied the knot with his niece, Sushma, as it was considered to be impermissible in Indian society.
