Some Lesser Known Facts About Vasantrao Chavan
He dropped out of college after completing the first year of his B.Com. (Bachelor of Commerce).
He served as trustee and chairperson of Janta High School and College of Agriculture in Naigaon.
He has served as a member of Maharashtra Vidhan Parishad and Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha for over 16 years.
He won the 2024 Lok Sabha election by more than 50,000 votes even after the Congress party was considered weak in Nanded as its several leaders, including former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan , left the party to join rival parties before the election.
As per sources, INC allowed Chavan to contest the general elections as Ashok left the party.
12 days before his death, he was airlifted from Nanded and admitted to the KIMS Hospital, Hyderabad due to his ill health.
He was diagnosed with several health issues, including heart diseases and end-stage renal disease. He also suffered from Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy, a brain injury caused by lack of oxygen or blood flow.
