He was born in Rayagada, Odisha, but later, his family moved to Hyderabad. From there, his family shifted to Bridgewater, New Jersey, U. S. where he received his education. His residence is in New Jersey.
Varun is the grandson of famous Telugu writer, Jeedigunta Ramachandra Murthy, who worked for âAll India Radioâ for 28 years in Hyderabad.
His first film, Happy Days, was a blockbuster. To be selected in the film, he sent some of his photos to the director, Sekhar Kammula. Shekhar asked him to send more photos and later, Varun was selected as a lead actor opposite Tamanna Bhatia .
He has worked many Telugu films including Kotha Bangaru Lokam (2008), Evaraina Epudaina (2009), Maro Charitra (2010), Kudirithe Kappu Coffee (2011), Chammak Challo (2013), Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda (2014), Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu (2015), Mister 420 (2016), etc.
For the film, Evaraina Epudaina, he had sung a song named âVaanemo Thadisi.â
He is the brand ambassador for Kalanjali store for the state of Andhra Pradesh.
