Some Lesser Known Facts About Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke
Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke started playing hockey at the tender age of 8 by watching her father play for fun. Eventually, she started playing with and against boys in the field.
Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalkeâs father competed in the âKersari Kusthiâ, a regional wrestling championship in Maharashtra; however, he was unable to pursue the sport due to financial limitations.
Vaishnavi tried her luck at different sports but finally decided to pick Hockey as her profession. She made her fatherâs dream come true by playing professional hockey for the Indian team.
Her father enrolled her in the Government Sports Academy in Pune for basic hockey training in 2011, and then transferred her to the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune, for professional hockey training.
In 2017, she took part in the 7th Hockey India Sub-Junior Womenâs National Championship which was held in Ramanathapuram.
In 2019, Vaishnavi participated in the 9th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship which was held in Kollam, Kerala.
After seeing her good performance in the India Sub-Junior Women National Championship, she got selected for the Junior India camp in the same year.
In 2021, she represented Indiaâs womenâs junior hockey team at the FIH Hockey Womenâs Junior World Cup, which was held in Potchefstroom, South Africa, and the Indian team finished fourth.
In the same year, Vaishnavi Vitthal was appointed as the captain for the 20-member Indian junior womenâs team at the U-23 Five Nation tournament which was held in Dublin, Ireland.
In 2022, she was selected for the Senior National Camp after completing 3 years at the Junior National Camp.
In 2022, she was offered a job at the Indian Oil Corporation and was also made part of their hockey team.
In 2023, Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke played for the Indian Oil Corporationâs womenâs hockey team, winning the championship in the finals of the 3rd Hockey India Inter-Departmental National Championship in New Delhi.

In 2023, she was selected for the Indian hockey team squad for the 19th Asian Games, which were held in Hangzhou, China. The Indian hockey team earned the bronze medal in the championship, defeating Japan by the score of 2-1.

In the same year, she also represented the Indian hockey team at the  Womenâs Junior Asia Cup which was held in Kakamigahara, Japan. The Indian team won the tournament finals.

In 2023, Vaishnavi made her senior team debut in the South Africa tour, which was held in Cape Town. She was chosen as a midfield player and scored three goals in the event.
In 2023, Vaishnavi was a member of the Indian womenâs side that won the biennial six-nation Womenâs Asian Champions Trophy in Ranchi, India.
