Some Lesser Known Facts About V. Somanna
During his college days, V. Somanna was a student leader.
From 1983 to 1987, he served as the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
In 1994, V. Somanna contested the Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections from the Binnypet constituency in Bengaluru on the ticket of Janta Dal and won. He served in the position till 2008.
He served as a Prison and Urban Development Minister in the Congress-led government in 1996.

He served as a Minister of the Muzrai Government of Karnataka from 27 September 2019 to 10 February 2020.
On 27 September 2019, V. Somanna was appointed as a Minister of Food and Civil Supplies in the Government of Karnataka. He served in the position till 10 February 2020.
He served as a Minister of Infrastructure Development in the Government of Karnataka from 4 August 2021 to 13 May 2023.
In June 2024, V. Somanna was appointed as a Minister of State in the Ministry of Jal Shakti in the Government of India.
