Reportedly, when Kushwaha reached Arrah in Bihar, the protestors were standing among the audience who was waiting to welcome him. They began sloganeering, which caused a chaos between Upendra's protestors and supporters. The workers of Kushwaha Samaj beat up the protestors. In an interview, while talking about this, Upendra said, "While some of the persons pelting stones had covered their faces with mufflers, others had uncovered faces. On 31 January 2023, Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced his deputy and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as his successor for the 2025 state polls. In an interview, Upendra said that he had "boundless reverence" for Nitish Kumar and also said, "I have in the past renounced my berths in the Rajya Sabha and later in the union council of ministers ... The party may take back my party post and strip me of my status as an MLC if it thinks these are big privileges bestowed on me." Some Lesser Known Facts About Upendra Kushwaha
Upendra Kushwaha is an Indian politician and a member of the Bihar Legislative Council. He is also a former Member of Parliament. He is a former member of the Rajya Sabha and the leader of his own party Rashtriya Lok Samata Party.
When Upendra was studying in college, he lived with Karpoori Thakur, the two-time Bihar Chief Minister, who guided him about politics. Karpoori Thakur was dear friends with Upendra’s father (deceased).
He also learnt political ropes from Indian activist Jayaprakash Narayan.
After he graduated from the B. R. Ambedkar Bihar University, he was appointed at Samata College as a lecturer in the politics department.
In 1985, when Upendra joined the youth wing of the Lok Dal, he was a junior to Nitish Kumar, co-founder of the Janata Dal (United). It was on Nitish Kumar ‘s suggestion that Upendra Singh added Kushwaha to his name believing that it would help boost his political standing.
