Tom Banton is an English cricketer who plays for England’s national cricket team. He started his cricket journey at an early age, and he played for various domestic teams in England. In 2020, Tom was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs. 1 crore as the opening batsmen and wicket-keeper for the team for the 2020 Indian Premier League.

Tom started his journey in cricket when he was enrolled in Warwickshire County Cricket Club and played for the academy’s U-14, U-17, and U-18 teams. He completed his formal education at King’s College, Taunton where he played cricket and hockey for the college’s team. He decided to focus on cricket under the guidance of Phil Lewis, an English cricketer.

While playing for the King’s College, Tom played a match against Somerset Academy during a Southwest Youth League match, and the academy director, Steve Snell asked Tom to give trials for the academy team. Tom was signed by the Somerset Academy and made his debut for Somerset during the 2017 NatWest T20 Blast on 16 July 2017.
In 2017, Tom Banton was added to England’s squad for the 2018 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Since then, he has been a part of England’s Twenty 20 International team, and he made his ODI debut on 4 February 2020 against South Africa.

Banton was signed by the Brisbane Heat for the Australian Big Bash League for the 2019-2020 season. In 2019, Tom was drafted for the 2020 Pakistan Super League franchise team, Peshawar Zalmi. He made his debut match for the Kolkata Knight Riders on 12 October 2020 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
