She was declared the second runner-up during the event and won the titles Miss NETA Myanmar 2024, Miss Angel Secret Myanmar 2024, Miss De Novo Myanmar 2024, and Miss IAURA Myanmar 2024.
On the final night of the Miss Grand International (MGI) Pageant, Thae Su Nyein impressed everyone by confidently answering the questions in English.
When asked about challenges for the younger generation, she said that one of the biggest problems was social media misuse, which caused young people to lose touch with real-life values.

As Thae Su Nyein was crowned second runner-up of the Miss Grand International (MGI) Pageant 2024, she walked down the stage, and the pageant director, Htoo Ant Lwin, took the crown from her head and threw away her sash.

Later, Htoo Ant Lwin was seen accompanying Thae Su Nyein out and shouting at someone who was filming the incident.
A few days after the controversy at the Miss Grand International (MGI) Pageant 2024 ceremony, she announced through social media that she was returning her second runner-up crown, saying it was a choice that she made independently.
In a Facebook Live on 27 October 2024, she explained that she was giving up the crown because she felt her country was not given the recognition it deserved. Thae Su Nyein said,
I am not controlled by anyone. I made this decision on my own. I’m giving back my second runner-up crown because we didn’t get what we deserve, like the National Costume award or the Country Power of the Year, not the winning crown.”
In the same video, she added,
I’m not blaming my fellow contestants. I love India and the Philippines—they are my closest sisters. I’m not blaming them. I’m only speaking up about the National Costume award and our Country Power figure, not the main crown.”
