  • Tejaswini is an Indian Shooter from Kolhapur in Maharastra.

  • At the age of 13, she started her training in shooting with the dream of becoming India’s top shooter.

  • She has practised in the Dudhali area where there were minimum facilities available for a shooter.

  • Initially, she was trained under Jaisingh Kusale, whereas now she is being mentored by her personal coach- Kuheli Gangulee and she considers her coach as her biggest support system. 

  • At the 9th South Asian Sports Federation Games in 2004 in Islamabad, she won a Gold Medal for India.

  • After winning 5 Gold, 6 Silver, and 5 Bronze medals at the national championships, Tejaswini was selected to represent India at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, ahead of Anjali Ved Pathak Bhagwat (Asian Games gold medallist) and Suma Shirur (world record holder), where she won gold medals in Women’s 10 m Air Rifle singles and Women’s 10 m Air Rifle Pairs (with Avneet Kaur Sidhu) events.

  • At the 2009 ISSF World Cup in Munich, she won a bronze medal in 50-metre rifle three positions.

  • She became the World Champion and the first Indian woman shooter to win a gold medal by making a world-record equalling score at the World Championships in the 50 m Rifle Prone event.

  • Tejaswini grabbed two silver medals and one bronze at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi: one silver in Women’s 50 rifle prone singles, other along with Lajjakumari Goswami in Women’s 50 m rifle 3 positions pairs event, and bronze in Women’s 50 m rifle prone pairs paired with Meena Kumari.

  • In an interview, she expressed her joy of representing India world-wide and the magic she feels after fulfilling her father’s dream:

  • On 29 August 2011, she was honoured by Pratibha Patil with the Arjuna Award. 

  • At the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games on 12 April, she won a silver medal in Women’s 50m Rifle Prone Finals and was just 2.1 points away from gold, which was won by Singapore’s Martina Lindsay Veloso. 

  • The very next day, she set a Games Record in Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Position Finals with total points of 457.9. 

  • She has been also appointed as OSD- Officer on Special duty in the sports department.

  • Tejaswini stated in an interview that her ultimate goal is to become part of the Olympics team and win a medal for India.
