Tathagata Mukherjee made his first theatre performance when he was 5 years old.
Tathagata Mukherjee started his professional theatre career in 2005.
He also studied drama along with his studies at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.
In childhood, he went on a pilgrimage for three years with the Bengali drag artist Chapal Bhaduri.
Bou Kotha Kao (2009), a TV serial, was the turning point of his career. After the success of this serial, he started getting lead roles in many Bengali TV serials and films.
Tathagata Mukherjee is also known for his theatre performances in Tarpor, TV Khela, Ekti Obastab Golpo, Jodio Golpo, U-Turn, and Sita Theke Suru.
Tathagata Mukherjee was influenced by American filmmaker Quentin Jerome Tarantino and Bengali filmmaker Bratya Basu to make a career in filmmaking.
Tathagata Mukherjee also played cameo roles in the Bengali TV serial Agnipariksha (2009) and the Bengali film Tumi Ashbe Bole (2021).
