Tamim justified Kamal's decision by scoring 4 consecutive half centuries and becoming the only Bangladeshi cricketer till date to do so. • During Bangladesh Premier League 2015, he criticised his franchise saying "Franchise may have got some deep pockets but they should not treat a national cricketer like a beggar. Being born in a family of cricketers, he had a passion for the game since his early childhood. His brother and uncle played cricket for Bangladesh. His brother used to call him more talented and passionate.
Tamim is the most successful run builder in Bangladesh Cricket Team.
He was named as one of the four Wisden Cricketer’s Almanac’s Cricketers of the Year, and Wisden’s Test Player of the Year in 2011. He became the second Bangladeshi cricketer to achieve the award.
Iqbal is the only Bangladeshi cricketer to score a ton in all three formats of the game.
In 2013, he was named an International elite player for the inaugural Caribbean Premier League.
As of January 2017, he holds the record of being the second-highest run-scorer of the side. He is the second Bangladeshi player to go past the 3000 mark in Test format & 4000 in One Day Internationals. He is currently the first Bangladeshi cricketer to climb to 1000 runs in T20 Internationals. He was the leading run-scorer in the ICC World T20 2016, which had been hosted by India.
