Some Lesser Known Facts About Surender Sharma
Surender Sharma moved to New Delhi with his family when he was under the age of 10.
Surender Sharma is famously known as âChaar Laina wala poetâ (poet of four lines) as he recites his poetry in just four lines, especially in the Haryanvi and Marwari dialects.
Surender Sharma started writing poetry in 1966 when he was studying in college.
When he was studying in the second year of college, Surender Sharma became friends with a man named Prahlad who later started his own orchestra group. Surender was introduced in that group which made him famous among other students of the college.
During his time in that group, Surender and his friends only used to make fun of each other through satirical comedy and thatâs how his comic punches got strong.
He failed his second year of college.
Initially, he used to do mimicry of different people and also used to recite the writings of the Hindi satirist and humorist Kaka Hathrasi.
He wrote his very first poetry in Rajasthani.
In the 1970s, he started performing his poetry professionally.

In 1980, T-Series released a cassette named âChar Line Wale Kaviâ. Thatâs why people started calling him a four-line poet.
In 2004, FM radio station, Red FM 93.5, started a daily show titled âSharmaji Se Poochoâ (Ask Mr Sharma) featuring Surender Sharma. In this show, he gave prompt and humorous answers to callersâ questions.
His famous starting line for many of his poems is âchaar lainaa suna ryo hoonâ which means âIâm going to recite four linesâ followed by âGhar-aali kah rahi thiâ (wife was saying).

Surender Sharma is one of the first few poets of Hasya Ras (comic and satiric poetry). He has established the tradition of Hasya-Ras in the Kavi Sammelan industry.
