Some Lesser Known Facts About Sunil Varma
Sunil Varma is an Indian actor and comedian who predominantly works in the Telugu film industry.
He grew up in a middle-class family in Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh.
Sunilâs father passed away when Sunil was just 5 years old. He was raised by his mother alone.
Since childhood, Sunil was inclined towards dance. He used to watch Chiranjeeviâs films and always desired to dance like him.
In his college days, he relocated to Vizag to clear the selection process for Navy. However, he was rejected by the selection panel as he didnât have 32 teeth.
He quit his M.Com midway as he wanted to make a career in acting.
He first bagged the Telugu film âSecond Hand,â but the filmâs production was stopped.
Some of his uncredited films include âAkkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayiâ (1996), âPape Naa Pranamâ (2000), and âFamily Circusâ (2001).
Subsequently, he appeared in the films âNuvvu Nenuâ (2001), âSonthamâ (2002), âKalyana Ramuduâ (2003), âLove Todayâ (2004), âAaryaâ (2004), and âBhageerathaâ (2005).
In 2006, he starred in the Telugu film âAndala Ramuduâ in the lead role of âRamu.â
He then played the role of âKovelamudi Ramuâ in S. S. Rajamouli âs Maryada Ramanna. The film was a commercial success.
He starred in the lead role of âRangaâ in the Telugu film âPoola Rangaduâ in 2012. The film was a huge hit and was released in around 450 theatres worldwide.

His commercial successes include âTadakhaâ (2013), âAmar Akbar Anthonyâ (2018), âPadi Padi Leche Manasuâ (2018), âChitralahariâ (2019), and âChanakyaâ (2019).

In 2020, Sunil played the negative lead in the Telugu film âColour Photo.â He was applauded for his performance by the critics and the audience.

In 2021, he was roped in the Telugu-language action drama film âPushpa: The Riseâ as âMangalam Srinu,â a dangerous gangster. His role in the film was very much different from the comedy roles he usually played in the films.

Apart from acting, he has also dubbed dialogues for a few Tamil actors. He worked as a dubbing artist for the Tamil actors N. Santhanam and Sathyan in the Telugu versions of the Tamil films âOru Kal Oru Kannadi (OKOK)â (2012) and âSnehituduâ (2012) respectively.
He loves to travel whenever he is free.
Sunil is also a social worker and works to improve the conditions of underprivileged children. He spent his 39th birthday with the blind children of Devnar School, Hyderabad, and donated the school an amount of Rs. 2 lakh. Sunilâs personal assistant while talking to a reporter, during an interview, said,
Sunil spent a few hours with the blind children of Devnar School this morning. He has been planning to meet them for a long time but couldnât take out time from his schedule. Today, being his birthday, he finally met them and also donated Rs 2 lakh.â
He added,
He is not keen on hosting a party. He will spend time with his family in the evening and await the release of his film tomorrow.â

Sunil has worked in around 177 Telugu films as of 2022.
Varma loves eating food and also likes to keep his body fit. During an interview, while talking about it, he said,
Right from my childhood, I was always fascinated by bodybuilders and food. During my college days, I used to be really fat, and never bothered to exercise. I just concentrated on eating. Jokes apart, I give credit to my trainer Khalil who is also my friend for transforming me. I began exercising and started eating fresh, boiled food. I have completely stopped eating processed food.â
