• Sunali Rathod was born in a Gujarati family.

• At the age of 10, she started singing and got trained under “Purushottam Upadhyay” and “Hridaynath Mangeshkar.”

• She also received training in classical singing from ‘Ustaad Fayyaz and Niyaz Ahmed of Kirana School of Music.’

• At the age of 18, Sunali released her first Extended Play (EP) record of Gujarati songs with an entertainment retailing company, HMV Retail Ltd.

• She has sung different types of songs from different categories of music like Tappa, Bhajan, Ghazal, Kheyal, and Light music.

• While she was a student of music, she got married to a popular singer “Anup Jalota” without the approval of his family. Later, because of some personal issues, their marriage couldn’t go long, and they soon separated.

• In 1983, Sunali met with the famous singer “Roop Kumar Rathod” through a common friend & late actor Joy Mukherjee’s wife “Neelam.” After six years of being in a relationship, they finally got married in 1989.

• After her marriage with “Roop Kumar Rathod,” they produced numerous hit albums like ‘Ishara,’ ‘Khushbu,’ ‘Mitwa,’ ‘Mohabbat Ho Gayee,’ ‘Pyaar ka Jashn,’ ‘Vaada,’ ‘Bazme Meer,’ ‘Mannpasand,’ ‘Kalma,’ etc.

• They have also given numerous live performances throughout the world.

• In 2005, she, along with her husband “Roop Kumar Rathod,” appeared as guests on the famous comedy show ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.’
