Some Lesser Known Facts About Sumrit Shahi
Sumrit Shahi is an Indian novelist and a screenwriter. He is known for writing romance novels.
Sumrit Shahi attended St. Johnās High School in Chandigarh till class 10 and later transferred to SelaQui International School in Dehradun to complete his schooling; however, he was soon expelled from school due to possessing a banned substance. Later, he moved back to Chandigarh and completed his schooling at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula. According to Sumrit, after moving back to Chandigarh and with an expulsion on his school record, he could not get admission to any school in Chandigarh.
In 2010, at the age of 17, Sumrit wrote his first novel, āJust Friends,ā which sold more than 1 Lakh copies in the first few months after its publication. In October 2011, he published his second book, āA Lot Like Loveā¦ A Li āl Like Chocolate,ā which also became a best-selling novel and was appreciated for its dark humour.
After his second novel, āA Lot Like Loveā¦ A Li āl Like Chocolate,ā was published in 2011, he was referred to as the ārock star of youth writing.ā
In the summer of 2012, Sumrit Shahi became a feature writer for The Daily Post, Chandigarh, and later, in the same year, he freelanced with India Today as a Business Profile writer.
In 2012, Sumrit Shahi made his debut as a screenwriter with the television serial Ek Veer Ki Ardaasā¦Veera (2012-2015) on StarPlus channel. Sumrit co-wrote Ek Veer Ki Ardaasā¦Veera with his best friend Durjoy Datta .
Sumrit Shahi has written more than 1300 episodes in 10 television shows includingĀ Sadda Haq ā My Life, My Choice (2013-2016), Million Dollar Girl ā From Banaras to Paris (2014-2015), and Boyz (2015).
In May 2015, Sumrit Shahi published his third novel, āNever Kiss Your Best Friend,ā under Rupa Publications.

In 2020, his third novel, Never Kiss Your Best Friend (2015), was adapted into a web series, and Sumrit Shahi worked as a screenwriter for the series. He has written the scripts for many web series including Black Coffee (2017), Duck Sey Dude (2018), Medically Yours (2019), and Dev DD (2021).
