Some Lesser Known Facts About Major General SS Sharda
On 9 February 2018, SS Sharda was a guest at the felicitation programme in Chieswema, Nagaland, as the DIG HQ 5 sector, Assam Rifles, where he handed over certificates and tools to the local youth trained under the Department of Rural Development (RD).
In December 2020, he was the Commander of the Pathankot sub-area when the Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations (50 years of the 1971 war victory against Pakistan) were celebrated.

On 2 September 2021, he was a part of the Army delegation that received the Victory Flame, a part of the Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations at the North Portal of the Atal Tunnel at Rohtang.
On 26 February 2024, he was the chief guest of the Valedictory Ceremony of DGR-sponsored ‘Certificate Course in International Business Management’ at IIM, Indore, as Dean, Faculty of Study and Leadership, Army War College.

He made headlines on 11 May 2025 when he joked about left foot forward during the press conference about the ceasefire during the Operation Sindoor.

He pointed to his left and joked that we always start with our left foot in the drill. He said, “I’ve got a lot of hands there. Let me start from the left. The left foot is always in front when we start marching, so here we have to start from the left.“
As the additional director general of strategic communications, he is the nodal officer to send notices to intermediaries such as social media platforms, in case violations are reported in sharing any information related to the armed forces.
