In an interview with ‘She the people,’ Sonia was asked about the democracy of Indian television. She explained her views,
Television has been a huge asset to Indian democracy. However, where my worries are is that we cannot become a mouthpiece to the powerful. That is something that we must guard against as it challenges the very notion of our democracy.”
In the same interview, she narrated the story of the Dalai Lama when he was deciding where he should go to get refuge when he was at the border of Tibet, Bhutan and India. She revealed,
He got a call from India to come to the country and how that one moment changed the course of history.”
In a conversation with an Indian magazine – Verve, Sonia Singh revealed that she was fascinated by the personality of the Dalai Lama. She explained the experience she had while interviewing the spiritual guru. She narrated,
He was just so fascinating — his youthfulness, his vibrancy and his sense of fun was really interesting. For someone who you’d expect to be holy and spiritual, he is very much in touch with his fun side. I am not very religious or spiritual, but he has such an aura of compassion. He just seemed like such a good person, which in this world you rarely find. My conversation with him was very special.”
In the same interview, she unfolded her love for books. She disclosed,
I read all kinds of fiction, but chick lit is how I relax, especially the Irish kind. My guilty secret is Maeve Binchy and even though everyone tells me that one is supposed to stop reading her when one is 25, when I’ve had a stressful day at work and I want to know that everything is well with the world, I come back and read her books.”
