Sonali Vishnu Shingate belongs to a Hindu family from the Kolhapur district, now settled in Mumbai.
Sonali Vishnu Shingate as a young child
She played various sports during her student days and particularly liked cricket, but did not pursue it because of financial constraints.
She started playing Kabaddi as it required minimum financial investment.
She joined the Shiv Shakti Mahila Sangha Club in Mumbai at a young age and began training under coach Rajesh Padave.

Even though the team lost in the quarter-final match of the Junior National Championship in 2014, Sonali’s commendable performances earned her the captaincy in the next Junior Nationals.
Sonali wished to join the police forces.
She accepted a job with the Indian Railways and joined its women’s Kabaddi team.
She received six medals (2 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze) in the inter-railway competitions, five (3 gold and 2 silver) for Indian railways in national competitions, and one gold medal for the Federation for Indian Railways.
In 2016, she gained popularity as part of the Ice Divas Team at the Women’s Kabaddi Challenge by Pro Kabaddi League.
