Some Lesser Known Facts About Sonali Mishra
She is a 1993 batch IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre.
In July 2021, she became the first woman commander to lead a Border Security Force (BSF) formation along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab.
She has served as the first women Inspector General in the Kashmir valley, where she overseed BSF operations, she also led the BSF’s intelligence wing and worked as an additional director general within the force.
As of 2025, she got posted as the Additional Director General in Madhya Pradesh Police and held several important police posts.
On May 31, during the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai Holkarin held in Bhopal, the responsibility of security arrangements was given to Sonali Mishra.
Sonali Mishra was responsible for the security of the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. Under her supervision, more than 6 women IPS officers served at major places in Bhopal.
On 13 July 2025, she got appointed as the first woman Director General of the Railway Protection Force (RPF). She will hold this post of RPF till 31 October 2026.
