Some Lesser Known Facts About Sneha Dubey

Sneha Dubey is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 2012 batch. On 25 September 2021, she delivered a speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where she slammed Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan for supporting terrorism and misusing the platform of UNGA for his propaganda. Soon after her speech went viral on social media, she won the hearts of millions of Indians for her well-described reply to Imran Khan for his speech in which he mentioned the Kashmir issue at UNGA.
She was born and brought up in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Her family moved to Goa after her father got a job in a multinational company in Goa. Sneha Dubey spent most of her teenage in Goa and completed her school education from there. In 2003, she was the topper in matriculation at her school Manovikas School, Margao.
The founder of her school, ‘Therese Almeida,’ narrated Sneha Dubey’s childhood incident in a conversation with a media house. She said,

She was outstanding in everything she did and was very popular. I recall her being very communicative with everybody.”

Danika Lobo, a schoolmate of Sneha, told in the same interview that all Indians were proud of the way she took a stand for India against terrorism while replying to the false propaganda of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan . She said,

We are proud of the stand she took and the way she put forth India’s sentiments soeloquently. She is representing India at the highest level and is an epitome of passionand inspiration, which is wonderful.”
At the age of 12, Sneha Dubey aimed to become an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer. She moved to Delhi to pursue her higher studies. After completing her masters in International Studies, she cleared her civil services examination in her first attempt in 2011. check sources Hindustan Times
Soon after clearing her IFS examination, from December 2013 to August 2014, she served as an Under-Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs for nine months. In 2014, she was appointed as the Third Secretary at the Embassy for India in Madrid, Spain. Later, she started working as India’s First Secretary at the United Nations.
Sneha is a travel enthusiast. She adores travelling to foreign countries in her leisure time.
Reportedly, Sneha is the first member of her family who joined government service.
In an interview with Chanakya Civil Services Today, Sneha described her inspiration to clear the Indian Foreign Services. She stated,

It was an amalgamation of interests I think- learning about international affairs, the thrill of travelling and discovering new cultures, representing my country, being part of important policy decisions and helping people- all inspired me.”
On 25 September 2021, Sneha Dubey came into the International limelight when she spoke in response to the speech delivered by the Prime Minister of Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). She responded to Imran Khan after he raised up the issue of Kashmir at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). check sources Live Mint She said,

Regrettably, this is not the first time the leader of Pakistan has misused platforms provided by the UN to propagate false and malicious propaganda against my country, and seeking in vain to divert the world’s attention from the sad state of his country where terrorists enjoy free pass while the lives of ordinary people, especially those belonging to the minority communities, are turned upside down.”

Sneha also blamed Pakistan for nurturing terrorism in its backyard as a result of which the entire world was suffering. She also condemned Pakistan for suppressing its minority communities. While mentioning the districts of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, Sneha slammed Imran Khan for bringing up the internal matters of India. She said,

These were, are and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India.”

She further criticised Pakistan for providing shelters to some of the biggest terrorists in the world including Osama Bin Laden and calling them martyrs. She added that Pakistan held a record for sheltering a number of terrorists that were forbidden by the United Nations. She said,

Pakistan holds the ignoble record of hosting the largest number of terrorists proscribed by the UNSC (United Nations Security Council). Osama bin Laden got shelter in Pakistan. Even today, Pakistan leadership glorifies him as a martyr.”

In the same speech, she also reminded the religious and cultural genocide against the people of East Bengal (now Bangladesh) fifty years ago that was left acknowledged by Pakistan. She explained,

This is also the country that still holds the despicable record in our region of having executed a religious and cultural genocide against the people of what is now Bangladesh. As we mark the 50th anniversary this year of that horrid event in history, there is not even an acknowledgement, much less accountability.”

During the speech, Sneha Dubey held Pakistan responsible for establishing a history of supporting, training, financing, arming and harbouring terrorists. She further expressed that Pakistan was a well-known country for proliferating terrorism. She recounted,

Member States are aware that Pakistan has an established history and policy of harbouring, aiding and actively supporting terrorists. This is a country that has been globally recognized as one openly supporting, training, financing and arming terrorists as a matter of State policy.”

Shortly after Sneha Dubey’s video surfaced on Twitter, several Twitter users praised her for shutting the mouth of Pakistan over the terrorism lies. One of the Twitter users tweeted,

On 25 September 2021, soon after Sneha’s speech went viral on Twitter, Anjana Om Kashyap went to interview Sneha at her office. Kashyap was asked to get out of the office by Sneha. The video went viral in media soon after the incident.

According to Sneha Dubey, she developed a habit to swim for an hour before her preliminary examinations. She stated in an interview with a media house that she increased the hours of study before her Prelims. She said,

The month before the Prelims when I increased the hours of study, I made it a point to swim for an hour every evening. It had a very calming effect. The months before the Main Exam I went for a run in the morning.”

She further narrated that she was enrolled in Chanakya IAS Academy for the preparations of IAS examinations, and in the coaching centre, she received guidance from the trained officers. She discussed,

Chanakya IAS Academy has been consistently contributing to the Civil Services by providing a steady supply of candidates into the services.
