On 31 August 2023, she passed away due to a kidney ailment, which was reportedly a result of complications arising from buttock lifting surgery, which she had in 2011. In 2014, her doctors told her that she had kidney stones, which were alleged to have been caused by the use of methacrylate on her buttocks by her cosmetic surgeon. In 2023, doctors advised her to undergo a kidney transplant. Gradually, Luna’s health started deteriorating, after which she was immediately hospitalised. In April 2023, Luna shared a video on her Instagram account, in which she revealed that she was dependent on a life-sustaining machine while she was hospitalised in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

On 19 August 2023, hospital officials reported that she had contracted a bacterial infection after which she was removed from life-support machines.
