Rayan Malhotra is an Indian entrepreneur, marketing evangelist, and social media influencer. He is known for scaling up various ventures in financial technologies (Fintech), education technologies (EdTech sector) content, and more, he can be found sharing his wisdom through his social media handle @TheRyanMalhotra .
His father, Pavan Malhotra, is a prominent figure in the media industry, known for his contributions to the media, movies, music, and publishing businesses; however, Rayan wanted to earn his own identity. Since childhood, he was fascinated by technology, and he would often cut and paste relevant tech articles in his scrapbook. He began publishing articles on technology in various newspapers and magazines while still in school.
At the age of 17, he had his first job after a pivotal incident that taught him the value of money. He wanted a pair of expensive boots, which his parents denied him. As a result, he took up a distant summer internship with the intention of earning the money himself. He had to travel two hours every day and work for over 10 hours as an intern, which made him realize the amount of effort and hard work required to earn even a small amount of money.
He began his career as a content writer and transitioned into digital marketing. Later, he started working with startups in various industries, assisting them in expanding their reach through social media and digital platforms. He later led video content at 91mobiles, developing their YouTube channel. Rayan created innovative content, including the “Bhaiyaji Reviews” series in which he reviewed phones in a Desi style while impersonating celebrities, which became particularly popular. He grew the channel’s followers to over 1 million, establishing himself as a YouTube influencer.
After scaling multiple ventures in the fields of EdTech, content creation, and other sectors, leveraging his expertise in product development, growth, and marketing, Rayan made the decision to launch his own fintech startup, KASHWARE, based on his patented technology. As the company’s Founder & CEO, Rayan spearheaded the development of an “All-in-one” payment card that integrates all other credit/debit cards, banks, and wallets into a single payment app and card. This innovative product not only provided users with added convenience but also additional security and rewards. In April 2020, Rayan was awarded for his company’s innovation in payments and settlement systems by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in Hyderabad and was featured in the RBI gazette.
