Siddharth Randeria is an Indian actor and theatre artist, who mostly works in the Gujarat film and theatre industries. He is known for his iconic Gujjubhai series of theatre plays.
He grew up in a middle-class family in Mumbai.
His father, Madhukar Randeria, was a distinguished Gujarati professor, who played a pioneering role in the development and advancement of modern Gujarati Theatre. He authored more than 10 books in the Gujarati language.
Siddharth discovered his love for acting at a young age, nurtured by his father’s involvement in Gujarati theatre. As a child artist, he began showcasing his talent on stage, and in 1969, at just 14 years old, he made his notable debut in the play “Chakko-Makko.”

During his college years, Siddharth actively engaged with his college’s theatre group, participating in numerous inter-college drama competitions. His performances garnered recognition and earned him prizes. This passion for acting persisted for three years as he continued to partake in inter-college plays.
Later, Siddharth made a transition to the Indian National Theatre, where he was chosen to be a part of the cast for the play “Vairi,” which revolved around World War 2. The production boasted a talented ensemble including notable figures like Paresh Rawal, Mahendra Joshi, Arundhati, Shankar Nag, and Homi Wadia.
Simultaneously, Siddharth sought additional income by joining an architectural firm, working as an interior designer for 15 years. However, his love for the stage eventually led him to embrace a full-time career as a theatre artist.
Commencing his journey as a theatre artist in 1970, Siddharth Randeria has actively contributed to the realm of Gujarati plays.
His repertoire encompasses several renowned productions, including the likes of “Gurubrahma,” “Rang Che Rajja,” “Bas Kar Bakula,” “Carry On Lalu,” “Parnela Chaiye Kone Kahiye,” “Khandan,” and “Ramat Shooniya Chaukadini.”
In addition to his theatrical endeavors, Siddharth Randeria has showcased his versatility as a writer and director in the realm of stage plays.
One of his most notable achievements has been the immensely popular Gujjubhai series. It began with “Gujjubhai E Gaam Gajaavyu” in 2002, which paved the way for numerous successful productions in the series. Some of the acclaimed plays in the series include “Lage Raho Gujjubhai” (2007), “Lo Gujjubhai Ghode Chadya” (2010), “Gujjubhai ni Golmaal” (2012), “Gujjubhai Banya Dabangg” (2015), “Rang Rangila Gujjubhai” (2017), and “Bluffmaster Gujjubhai” (2019). The Gujjubhai series has mesmerized audiences across the globe, with several hundred shows being performed worldwide.

In 2015, Siddharth Randeria ventured into the Gujarati film industry with his debut film, “Gujjubhai The Great.” Portraying the character of Hasmukh Gandhi, an ordinary Gujarati man, Siddharth brought forth a delightful blend of humor to his family’s daily life. With his tongue-in-cheek demeanor, Hasmukh fearlessly expresses his witty thoughts about his wife, son, and mother-in-law, injecting a humorous charm into the dynamics of their household.

After a span of three years, Siddharth Randeria reprised his role in the sequel “GujjuBhai – Most Wanted.”

Additionally, in 2018, he took on the lead role in the Gujarati film “Natsamrat,” a remake of the similarly titled Marathi film.

Continuing his successful streak, Siddharth Randeria went on to captivate audiences in the blockbuster film “Chaal Jeevi Laiye!” (2019), which emerged as one of the highest-grossing Gujarati films ever made. The film enjoyed an exceptional theatrical run, captivating moviegoers for nearly a year.

Furthermore, Siddharth has graced the silver screen in other notable Gujarati films, including “Kehvatlal Parivar” (2022) and “Bushirt T-shirt” (2023).

Apart from his contributions to Gujarati cinema, Siddharth Randeria has made notable appearances in Bollywood films as well. His Bollywood filmography includes “Khal Nayak” (1993), “Kya Kehna” (2000), and “Short Kut” (2009).

Having amassed an impressive count of over 12,000 live performances, he has attained the remarkable distinction of holding the record for the most appearances by an actor in live shows.
In an interview, while revealing how his cult series Gujjubhai became an international brand, he said,
Firstly, to draw a parallel this series of plays is like Coca Cola. It was never meant to be a beverage but became one by accident and now its an unbeatable brand. It’s the same with Gujjubhai. It was not pre-meditated. I just gave the play a name, GUJJUBHAI GAAM GAJAVYU and it became such a huge success that the producers felt we should use the name again and hence we did LAGE RAHO GUJJUBHAI which was another turning point in my life. In three years it completed 750 shows and I don’t think any other play has done so well. This could have still gone on but the fatigue had set in and everybody felt we should do something else. In fact I shut it with sold out shows. This cemented the name as a brand. None of the stories are similar or continued and the only constant in the play is me.”
