Hashian was of Armenian/Italian ancestry and lived in Lynnfield, Massachusetts.
Sib Hashian was best known as a drummer for the rock band Boston.
In 1975, Hashian was reluctantly chosen by Boston founder Tom Scholz to replace original drummer Jim Masdea.
After leaving Boston, Hashian sued Boston band leader Tom Scholz for back royalties but later both settled out of the court.
Hashian was the drummer for fellow Boston member Barry Goudreau’s self-titled solo album which was released in 1980. The album gained moderate success with the rock radio hit “Dreams”.
In 2001, in the world premiere of the play 9-Ball written by his friend Art Devine, he made his first stage appearance as an actor at the Cape Cod Repertory Theater.
In 2005 he appeared in R U the Girl as his daughter Lauren was a contestant trying out to win the chance to perform with TLC.
His one daughter Lauren Hashian has been in the relationship with Dwyane Johnson.
Hashian died on 22 March 2017, at the age of 67, after collapsing on board a cruise liner.
