Shubhangi Atre has been attracted towards acting since her childhood. She took part in many drama competitions in her school days.

Since becoming an actress was her dream, she never thought of any other career options for herself.
She entered into a relationship with Piyush Poorey while they both were studying in the same class in the same school. She got married to him when she was just 19 years old.
She started working when she was in class 12th. As per her, her first salary was Rs. 300.
Shubhangi Atre does not smoke.
She received a payment of Rs. 2500 from the ad makers for appearing in the print ad for shampoo.
She got her first modelling consignment in Mumbai. She took her daughter in a Kangaroo bag to give the audition.
She won the title of “Miss Madhya Pradesh” in 2003.
After marrying Piyush in the same year, Shubhangi shifted to Pune, where she lived with her in-laws. She also adopted Poorey as her surname.
She is a trained Kathak and Odissi dancer.

Ekta Kapoor spotted her while Shubhangi was shooting for an advertisement in 2007.
She often made headlines for not sharing a cordial relationship with her Kasturi TV show’s co-star Karan Patel . She talked about Karan, in an interview, and said,
I can’t stand Karan even for a single second but I can’t help it. I had prepared myself for all this before entering this field. I knew I’d have to meet people like him in the industry and being a professional I’d have to live with them too.”

Shubhangi Atre made a guest appearance in the fifth season of the Hindi reality TV show Bigg Boss.
In 2016, she replaced actress Shilpa Shinde with the popular character of Angoori Bhabhi in the television serial Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!
She got the role of “Angoori Bhabhi” after auditioning among 80 actors.
This is the second time she replaced actress Shilpa Shinde in a show, earlier she replaced her in the serial Chidiya Ghar on SAB TV.

Along with the offer to appear in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!, Shubhangi had received offers to appear in two new shows. In an interview, she said that Piyush was initially against her decision to join the show as a replacement.
In 2022, Piyush and Shubhangi Atre got separated.
According to her, she did not divorce Piyush after separating from him in 2022 as she did not want her daughter to get affected due to their divorce.
As per her, she has acted for many show producers without charging any money.
She draws inspiration from Konkona Sen .
Some of the popular shows in which she has appeared are Kasturi (2007-2009) as Kasturi Chawla Sabharwal, Do Hanson Ka Jodaa (2009-2010) as Preeti, Gulmohar Grand (2015) as Kadambari, and Stories by Rabindranath Tagore (2015) as Kamala.

In 2020, Shilpa Shinde said that Shubhangi was copying her style of acting. Atre, however, denied her claims and said that she developed her own method of acting.

To prepare for her role in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!, Shubhangi Atre listened to Rabri Devi’s interviews and practised her tone and dialect.
In 2024, she took a break from acting to help her daughter get settled in the United States of America (USA).
She wishes to make her acting debut in the OTT with Ektaa Kapoor’s ALTT.
Shubhangi is one of the few actors who goes to work using Mumbai local. She spends two hours travelling.
