Shivangi Kolhapure is a well-known Indian actress as well as a singer. She is the wife of renownedĀ Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor . She worked in a number of Bollywood films including Do Anjaane (1976), Barood (1976), and Saajan Bina Suhagan (1978).
She is the first child of her parents among three daughters.
She was only 9 years old when she debuted as a child singer.

Shivangi Kolhapure was 18 years old when she got married to Shakti Kapoor .
Shivangi Kolhapure met Shakti Kapoor for the first time on the set of the film Kismet (1980). The two immediately hit off and ended up falling in love with each other. They decided to get married after being in a secret relationship for two years, but,Ā Shivangiās parents werenāt happy when they got to know about the two and locked Shivangi in a room. Shakti, who was twelve years elder than Shivangi, was disliked by her parents because of his age and the fact that he majorly played negative roles in Bollywood films. When they saw no other way to convince her parents, the couple decided to elope. In an interview, Shakti Kapoor talked about Shivangi Kolhapure and said,
Shivani and I eloped and got married. She is Maharashtrian and I am Punjabi. I played the villain and my reputation was not good. Her family did not agree to the marriage, so we had to run away. When she was 19, my son Siddhanth was born. That was the first time Shivangiās mother spoke to her after our marriage when she came to meet her at Breach Candy Hospital.ā
When Shivangiās father-in-law, Sikandarlal Kapoor, got to know about their marriage, he decided not to talk with his son. Shaktiās mother expressed her desire to meet Shivangi. As soon as his mother saw her, she said,
Badi pyaari bachhi hai (He said that she is really nice). She sang two lines and my father stood up and asked how come she sings so well. I told Lata ji is her first cousin, he stood up and said, āTeri sab galtiyaan maaf (All your mistakes are forgiven), because you got married in such big family.ā He asked her to sing Lata jiās song and shared that he a huge fan of hers. As soon as Shivangi sang, he got emotional.ā
On 15 August 2015, Shivangiās father, Pandharinath Kolhapure, suffered from a heart attack; he was admitted to a hospital four days prior to his demise.
In 1980, Shivangi played the role of Motiās sister in the film Kismet wherein Motiās role was played by Mithun Chakraborty.

Shivangi and her sister Padmini sang the songs Masterji Ki Aa Gayi Chitthi in the film Kitab (1977) and Mere Bahna Badi Pyari Hai in the film Dushman Dost (1981).
Shivangi collaborated with Lata Mangeshkar on the song Yaadon Ki Baaraat.
She sang the song āOvalite Bhaurayaā from the 1974 film Ovalite Bhauraya.
Kolhapure and Kishore Kumar collaborated on the song āLuk Chhip Luk Chhip Jao Naā in 1976.
Shivangi was a member of the costume department during the shoot of the film Ek Nai Paheli (1984).
Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kolhapure participated in the celebrity dance reality television series Nach Baliye- Season 3 in 2007; however, after suffering from back pain, Shivangi was unable to perform and the couple quit the show.
Shivangi uses Theta Healing and Sukyo Mahikari, a Japanese kind of light-based healing. She has organised a number of healing music workshops through the use of ragas and surs, or musical notes and melodies.
Shivangi mentioned in an interview that her grandmother wished for her to pursue a career as a singer.
Padmini Kolhapure, Shivangiās sister, was originally cast in the 1980 film āKismet,ā but when she had to cancel unexpectedly, the producers opted to contact Shivangi instead since they thought she resembled Padmini in terms of appearance and acting skills.
