He grew up in Chennai.

Shivaji Dev mainly works in Tamil films.
His debut film Singakutty performed poorly at the box office and received negative reviews from the critics.
He then joined Balu Mahendra’s film institute and pursued an acting course for a year.
After completing the course, Shivaji began participating in theatre plays.
He earned praise for playing the role of an English butler in the theatre play The Importance of a Hat.
For the Short & Sweet Theater Festival in Chennai, Shivaji directed the play Merry Christmas and Growing Up.
In 2012, he bagged a role in the Tamil film Nandanam. However, the film did not get release.
In the same year, he appeared in the film Pudhumugangal Thevai as Anand, an aspiring film director.
He then played the role of Gautham, a widower, in the Tamil film Idhuvum Kadandhu Pogum.
