At the age of 17, he decided to pursue a career in entertainment.
He joined a film institute (started by Subhash Ghai) âWhistling Woods International Instituteâ to break into the movie industry.
While at Whistling Woods, Khaitan made his first attempt on a movie, âSherwani Kahaan Haiâ with some of his fellow students at Whistling Woods, but could not complete the movie successfully.
His debut movie âHumpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniaâ was a super hit at box office.
For his film Badrinath Ki Dulhania, which was released in 2017, he was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Director.
He even played a small role of Arjun Kapoor âs younger brother in âIshaqzaadeâ (2012).
He is a Co-Judge alongside Madhuri Dixit and Tushar Kalia on a reality show âDance Deewaneâ.Â
