In November 2019, Shan Masood was playing for Southern Punjab against Northern Punjab at Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot in a match in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He showed dissatisfaction towards the umpire's decision when he was given out for which fined 25% of his match fee. Masood denied the charges levelled by the on-field umpires Abdul Moqeet and Farooq Ali Khan; however, the match referee Kamran Chaudhry later upheld the decision in the hearing. It was stated that Masood violated clause 2.8 of the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which is related to showing obvious disappointment with the umpires’ decision when given out caught behind.

  • Shan Masood is a Pakistani cricketer who has played in many international tournaments. He was appointed as the captain of the Pakistan test team in November 2023.

  • His family returned to Pakistan after the start of the 1990 Gulf War due to Kuwait’s invasion by Iraq and moved to Karachi. When he was five years old, he started playing cricket. His father supported him, and he played cricket while studying in school and college.

  • Shan Masood’s father, Mansoor Masood Khan, played hockey at the provincial level in Pakistan and is a cricket lover as well. Mansoor was watching the ODI between Pakistan and the West Indies at Sharjah, in which Wasim Akram took a hat-trick at the time of Shan’s birth on 14 October 1989.

  • Before the match against India in the 2022 T20 World Cup, he was practising in the nets when another Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Nawaz hit a shot that hit Masood on the head after which he was taken to the hospital; he did not suffer any major injury and opened the Pakistan batting in the match.

  • He became the first player to score 1000 runs in the County Championship 2022 while playing for Derbyshire which also included three double-centuries; he also became the first Derbyshire batsman to score consecutive double-centuries.
