Controversy	• Arrested while protesting Dakota Access Pipeline In 2016, Shailene Woodley was arrested in Sioux County, North Dakota, while protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline which was a controversial pipeline over 1,000 miles long that would transport crude oil through sacred lands of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Shailene Woodley was one of many of activists in the region protesting the construction of the pipeline. She streamed events from the protests on Facebook, and unexpectedly broadcast her arrest to thousands of people watching online. During her Facebook live, it was seen that a police officer informed her that she was being placed under arrest for criminal trespassing. After her arrest, Shailene's mugshot circulated massively on social media platforms along with the hashtags #FreeShailene. When she was a little girl. Shailene Woodley once accompanied her cousin to a theater class in her hometown and that’s when she became inclined towards the field of acting. After that, Shailene begged her parents to enroll her on a $700 acting program.
She started taking theatre classes and that’s where Shailene Woodley was discovered by an agent during one of her theatre acting classes. The agent called up her mother and said that he was interested in Shailene as she is a good actor.
Her mother had no idea who an agent was and what their purpose was. After the call with the agent, Shailene’s mother asked her if she was interested in pursuing acting as a career, and Shailene said yes. That is how she got into acting.
