Shaboozey’s father moved to the USA when the singer was young and loved American culture, including clothing such as camouflage, Wrangler trousers, and cowboy hats. This had a huge effect on shaping Shaboozey’s fashion choices.
His name Chibueze means ‘God is King’ in the Igbo language.
He changed his stage name to Shaboozey as one of his high school football coaches called him by this name since his original name was hard to pronounce.
The family settled in Alexandria, Virginia where he grew up.
He also spent a few years of childhood in a boarding school in Nigeria.
Later, his father told him about country music and its artists such as Kenny Rogers and Garth Brooks.
When he grew up, his father returned to Nigeria and continued farming, but Shaboozey wanted to become a creator.
